This Privacy Policy covers kilgocarinsurance.com (the "Site"), operated by Kilgo Insurance, LLC, doing business as Kilgo Insurance and KilGO Insurance ("Kilgo Insurance," "we," "us"), 713 N Courthouse Rd, Ste 201, North Chesterfield, VA 23236. We are a licensed independent insurance agency. We are not an insurance company and not a lead marketplace. We quote coverage with the insurance companies we are appointed with, and we pick which ones to ask based on what you tell us.
When an insurer issues you a policy, that insurer's own privacy notice also applies to the information it holds. It usually arrives with your policy documents.
2.1 What you give us in the quote form
| Category | What the form asks |
|---|---|
| Contact | First and last name, street address, email address, phone number |
| Personal details used for rating | Date of birth, gender, marital status. We treat these as sensitive: we use them only to price insurance you asked for, and we don't use them for advertising. |
| Vehicles & drivers | Number of vehicles; each vehicle's year, make, model, primary use and yearly mileage; number of drivers; whether anyone had an accident or violation in the past 3 years |
| Current coverage | Whether you're insured now and who your current auto or home insurer is |
| Home | Whether you own your home. If you add a home quote: property type, age, square footage, number of stories, home claims in the past 3 years |
| Consent record | The consent language you were shown, the button you clicked, and the date and time, plus a TrustedForm certificate (see Section 6) |
The Site doesn't collect Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, payment card numbers or bank account numbers. If an insurer needs any of those to bind a policy, a licensed agent will collect them directly from you.
2.2 What's collected automatically
Our hosting provider and the tools in Section 6 automatically receive your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit.
Your information is not used to train artificial intelligence models. We don't use it to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Underwriting decisions are made by the insurer.
When you click "Get My Quote," you give Kilgo Insurance, and only Kilgo Insurance, your prior express written consent to call and text you about your insurance quote and related insurance products and services at the number you provided. That includes calls and texts made using automated technology and artificial or prerecorded voice messages, even if your number is on a Do Not Call list. Consent is not a condition of purchase. You can call us at 804-689-3918 instead.
The Site uses the following third-party tools. Each one receives your IP address and basic browser information when it loads.
| Tool | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts the Site | Standard web request logs |
| Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms) | Measures whether our Facebook and Instagram ads lead to quote requests | Pages viewed, the fact that a quote was requested, and browser/device identifiers. If Meta's "advanced matching" is on, it may also receive a scrambled (hashed) version of your email or phone. We turn off the Pixel's automatic capture of button clicks, so your quote answers aren't sent to Meta. Not loaded if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. |
| TrustedForm (ActiveProspect) | Records your session on the quote form to prove what consent language you saw and agreed to | Your interactions with the quote page. Used only as evidence of consent, never for advertising. |
| Google Maps / Places | Suggests your address as you type, and shows our office map on the thank-you page | The address characters you type |
| AbstractAPI | Checks that the email and phone number are valid | The email address and phone number you enter |
| Zapier | Delivers your quote request to our agency | Everything you submit in the form |
| Google Fonts; Google favicon service; GitHub (car-logo images) | Loads the fonts and the carrier and car-maker logos shown in the form | Standard web request information only |
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, our pages don't load the Meta Pixel script. We treat the signal as a request to opt out of targeted advertising. The Site doesn't respond to the older "Do Not Track" signal, because there's no common standard for it. You can also block cookies in your browser settings, and limit ads in Meta's Ad Preferences.
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information. These include encrypted (HTTPS) transmission, limiting access to staff who need it, and contracts that require our service providers to protect it. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security incident that affects your information, we'll notify you and regulators as the law requires.
We keep quote and policy records for as long as we need them to serve you and to meet insurance record-keeping laws. We keep consent records and Do Not Call requests for at least ten years so we can prove consent and honor opt-outs. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
Whatever state you live in, you can ask us to:
Virginia's Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Act (Va. Code § 38.2-600 and following) also lets you see, and ask us to correct, the recorded personal information we hold about you in connection with insurance. If an insurer makes an adverse underwriting decision (for example, declining or surcharging a policy), you're entitled to the reasons in writing. Residents of other states may have similar rights.
How to make a request: call 804-689-3918, email jason@kilgoinsurance.com, or write to the address in Section 14. We'll confirm your identity before acting and respond within 30 business days. An authorized agent can make a request for you if you give them signed permission, and we may still confirm your identity directly. We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Appeals: if we deny your request in whole or in part, you can appeal. Reply to our decision or email us with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line within 60 days. We'll answer the appeal in writing within 60 days and explain what we decided and why. If you're unhappy with the outcome, you can contact the Virginia Attorney General at oag.state.va.us or the Virginia Bureau of Insurance at scc.virginia.gov.
We do not sell your personal information. We don't exchange it for money or anything of value, so there is nothing to opt out of. The "Do Not Sell My Info" link on every page brings you here to confirm that.
Targeted advertising. The Meta Pixel described in Section 6 is our only targeted-advertising tool. To opt out, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser (the Pixel then won't load), block third-party cookies, or limit ads in Meta's Ad Preferences. If you contact us, we won't upload your contact information to any advertising platform.
Virginia. Insurance agencies are generally covered by the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Virginia's insurance privacy law, so the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act may not apply to us. Even so, we extend its core rights to every visitor: access, correction, deletion, a copy of your data, opting out of targeted advertising, and the appeal process in Section 9.
Other states. We also serve North Carolina and Maryland. If you live in a state with its own consumer privacy law, contact us and we'll honor the rights that law gives you.
The Site is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, contact us and we'll delete it.
Links to insurers, Google Maps or other sites take you to services we don't control. Their own privacy policies apply there.
If we update this Policy, we'll post the new version here with a new "Last Updated" date. If a change materially affects how we use information we've already collected, we'll ask for your consent where the law requires it.
